How We Compare Tour Operator Software
Our methodology for fair, transparent comparison of 30+ tour operator platforms.
Our Approach
We built Automate.travel after running tour operations in Kraków, Warsaw, and Gdańsk since 2012 and serving over 100,000 guests. Every comparison on this site comes from that operator perspective — we know which features matter because we needed them ourselves.
We are not a review site. We are a competitor in this space, and we are transparent about that. Automate.travel is one of the platforms we compare. We disclose this on every comparison page, and we list real pros for every competitor — even where they outperform us.
Our goal is to give tour operators the information they need to choose the right tool for their business. Some operators will choose a competitor, and that is fine. A well-informed operator who picks the right platform will run a better business than one who picks ours for the wrong reasons.
Every comparison follows the same framework: the same 19 feature categories, the same scoring method, and the same data sources. No exceptions.
What We Evaluate
We evaluate every platform across 19 feature categories, grouped into four areas that reflect how a tour operator actually runs their business.

Scoring Method
Each feature is evaluated with one of four statuses:
We weight operations, finance, and communication features higher because these are the areas where tour operators tell us they struggle most. A platform that handles bookings but cannot tell you your margin on yesterday's tour is solving the easier half of the problem.
When a feature is marked "Partial," we include a note explaining what works and what does not. We do not round up. If a platform offers a feature only at its highest pricing tier, we note that. If it integrates through a third party, we note that too.
Data Sources
All feature and pricing data comes from publicly available sources:
- 1.Official product websites and public pricing pages
- 2.Published help documentation and knowledge bases
- 3.Public integration directories (Bokun, FareHarbor, Rezdy, Ventrata)
- 4.Press releases and industry coverage (PhocusWire, Arival)
We verify pricing and feature availability quarterly. Each comparison page shows a "Last verified" date. If you notice outdated information, contact us and we will update it within 48 hours.
We do not use affiliate links. We do not accept payment from competitors for placement or favorable ratings. No platform can pay for a better score.
Independence & Transparency
We are Automate.travel. We build and sell tour operator software. We are transparent about this on every comparison page — the first line tells you who we are.
That said, every comparison uses real, verifiable data. Competitors get their strengths listed fairly. Where a competitor outperforms us, we say so. Where our data is incomplete, we say "Partial" with a note rather than guessing. Where a feature is not publicly documented, we note that too.
Our incentive is accuracy. If an operator reads our comparison, chooses a competitor, and later finds our comparison was honest — they may come back when their needs change. If they find we were misleading, we have lost them permanently.
Every competitor page includes a clear "Pros" section listing genuine advantages the competitor has over Automate.travel. We also link directly to competitor websites so operators can verify claims themselves.

Comparison data is verified quarterly. Feature availability and pricing may change between verification cycles. If you spot an error, let us know.

I built this comparison framework because I spent years searching for the right software for my own tours. Most reviews were written by people who never ran a tour. These comparisons are written by someone who has — and who now builds the software I wish I had back then.
