Bokun pricing combines a monthly subscription with a percentage of eligible booking value. Your sales channels decide how much of your turnover attracts that percentage. A tour operator selling mainly through Viator can therefore pay a different software bill from one selling the same value through a website and other resellers.

The prices below come from official vendor pages checked in October 2026. Work out the fee-bearing revenue first, then compare plans. If you are still deciding which part of your business needs software, start with the tour operator software guide.

Bokun pricing plans: FREE, START, PLUS and PREMIUM

Bókun's published US dollar prices, read in October 2026, are:

    PlanMonthly subscriptionApplicable booking feeUsers
    FREE$0Limited to free channels1
    START$491.5%Up to 5
    PLUS$1491.25%Up to 10
    PREMIUM$4991%Unlimited

FREE covers Viator and manual booking management. START adds direct online selling and connected distribution. PLUS adds agent booking areas, Zapier and allocation management; PREMIUM adds multi-company management and priority support. Request a demonstration of the feature that makes you consider upgrading. A lower percentage alone may not cover the higher subscription.

For a food tour business, the practical question is whether the team can sell each departure and keep its remaining seats accurate. Write down who needs access and what each person must do. A guide who only needs the day's instructions has a different requirement from a sales manager maintaining agent agreements. Test those jobs during the trial.

    Which bookings attract Bokun fees?

For standard plans, Bókun charges no booking fee on Viator or offline reservations. Direct online sales and applicable reseller or OTA bookings attract the plan's percentage. Its separate Channel Manager product has custom pricing and charges 0.5% to 1.5% on Viator. Ask which product appears in your quote.

Zero Bókun fee does not erase the cost of finding a customer. Your OTA agreement still determines what the distributor keeps. Compare software charges separately from distribution costs, then bring both into the tour's margin calculation. Combining them into one "commission" column makes it difficult to see what switching software would change.

    Passing the fee to guests

Every paid plan allows fee pass-through. Bókun says the fee becomes part of the total displayed price, and the setting can be switched on or off. Its pricing calculator applies pass-through to direct online bookings, while retaining reseller fees in the operator's cost. Do not assume the setting removes every percentage charge from your invoice.

Record what you retain and what the guest pays. Passing on a fee changes who funds it; it does not make it disappear. When comparing engines, use the same choice for each one. Otherwise an operator-paid quote will look more expensive than a guest-paid quote by design.

    Payments, add-ons and refunds

Payment processing is a separate line. Bókun supports external payment providers; a card-processing rate is not the same charge as its booking fee. Request rates for your business location and card mix, including refund and currency-conversion costs. No universal card rate is assumed here.

The website builder, including the Advanced website upgrade, is included in paid plans according to Bókun's website FAQ. Its App Store also offers optional services such as SMS messaging. List the applications you intend to activate and obtain their current prices individually. An included website does not mean every service you connect to it is included.

The terms, checked in October 2026, distinguish two fee-payment arrangements. Under monthly invoicing, section 3.5 keeps the fee payable if cancellation happens after the invoice is raised. Under Bókun Pay, section 3.6 says subsequent cancellations or refunds do not return service fees. Invoicing follows booking dates, not departure dates. Taxes are additional where applicable.

Annual Bokun cost at three booking volumes

This is a worked example using our own assumptions, not a study or a vendor quote. Assume an average booking value of $100: 40% of revenue comes from Viator, 10% from offline sales and 50% from fee-bearing online channels. The operator absorbs all booking fees, retains one plan for twelve months, and has no cancellations. Processing, OTA commissions, tax and optional apps are excluded. Figures are US dollars.

Annual bookingsGross sales / fee-bearing valueSTARTPLUSPREMIUM
    1,000$100,000 / $50,000$1,338$2,413$6,488
    10,000$1,000,000 / $500,000$8,088$8,038$10,988
    40,000$4,000,000 / $2,000,000$30,588$26,788$25,988

The formula is annual subscription plus fee-bearing booking value multiplied by the plan rate. For example, START at the smallest volume is $49 × 12 + $50,000 × 1.5% = $1,338. These totals measure software subscription and booking fees only. They are not a complete cost of selling tours.

When does a lower percentage pay for an upgrade?

Using the same assumptions, PLUS costs $1,200 more in annual subscription than START and saves 0.25 percentage points on eligible revenue. The fee-only break-even is $480,000 of fee-bearing revenue a year: $1,200 ÷ 0.0025. At this example's channel mix, that means $960,000 in total sales. Above that point, PLUS costs less than START before valuing any additional features.

PREMIUM versus PLUS adds $4,200 in annual subscription for another 0.25-point reduction. Its break-even is $1.68 million in fee-bearing annual revenue, or $3.36 million total at the assumed mix. These are our calculations, not Bókun's upgrade requirements. A feature may justify upgrading earlier; pass-through can reduce the operator's savings from upgrading.

Seasonality deserves a separate check. The annual table holds the plan constant so the arithmetic is comparable. Before changing plans for a busy month, confirm when the new rate takes effect and what happens to features on downgrade. Use bookings created during the billing period in your forecast, even if those guests travel later.

Bokun vs FareHarbor and Rezdy: compare fee models

FareHarbor's food-tour page advertises no monthly software fee and describes a guest-paid checkout charge. Its provider terms also include a commission model. Obtain a channel-by-channel quote for your business. A zero subscription can be attractive in a quiet month, but you still need to compare the guest's checkout total and any charges borne by the operator.

Rezdy's pricing page, checked in October 2026, lists Foundation at $49, Accelerate at $99 and Expansion at $249 per month, each plus 3% per online booking. It allows operators to absorb that fee or pass it to guests. Request separate clarification for offline and distribution channels; do not copy a competitor's interpretation into your budget.

Use the same recent sales export for all quotes. Mark the source of each booking, its value and who collected payment. Ask each vendor to price that exact mix, showing guest-paid fees separately. This prevents a low subscription from concealing a higher variable cost, or a fee exemption from being applied to revenue that does not qualify.

The booking engine pricing comparison maps the wider category. For questions specific to the other models, see the FareHarbor pricing guide and Rezdy pricing guide. Use current vendor terms for the final calculation.

Questions before choosing a Bokun subscription

By default, the subscription renews monthly in advance. Section 3.3 requires notice through your account at least two US business days before the next billing period to stop renewal. Record the deadline when you activate the plan, then get answers to these questions in writing:

    1. Does this quote cover a standard booking plan or the standalone Channel Manager?
    2. Which of our sales channels incur fees, and what booking value is the percentage applied to?
    3. Where will pass-through work, and what total price will the guest see?
    4. What are our card, refund and chargeback charges, and which company bills them?
    5. Which optional applications have recurring or usage charges?
    6. How do upgrades, downgrades and cancellation affect future departures and data access?

Budget for tour operations alongside Bokun

Bókun already offers operational features, including resource management. Name the task your team still struggles to finish before adding software. If the problem is a guest conversation split across channels, or reconciling tour costs after departure, test that workflow rather than buying another tool because its feature list is longer.

automate.travel is an operations platform that works alongside Bókun. Bookings arrive through the API; the booking engine keeps selling the tour. One conversation per guest covers email, WhatsApp and phone calls, with OTA messages in the same inbox, linked to the booking. Scheduled templates send at configured stages. For individual replies, the AI assistant prepares a draft and a person reviews and sends it.

A guest portal supplies trip details through one link without a login. For guide assignment you see each guide's availability and rate; the office decides who is asked or assigned, and the first guide to accept takes the tour. Finance tools track margin per tour, what each guide is owed and monthly OTA reconciliation. See the Bokun and automate.travel comparison for the division of work.

The separate automate.travel price is €1.50 per completed booking, falling by tier to €0.55 above 60,000 bookings a year. It charges for tours that ran; cancelled and refunded bookings cost €0. Keep that operations budget separate from the dollar-denominated Bókun examples above, then assess both against the work your team needs to complete.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How much does Bokun cost per month?+

Bokun pricing checked in October 2026 starts at $49 a month for START, with PLUS at $149 and PREMIUM at $499. Their applicable booking fees are 1.5%, 1.25% and 1%. Payment processing and optional services need a separate budget.

    Is Bokun free?+

There is a limited FREE plan for managing Viator and manually entered bookings. Selling directly through a website booking widget requires a paid plan. A free account and a paid-plan trial serve different purposes; choose based on how you need to sell.

Is there a Bokun booking fee on Viator?+

Its standard plans do not add a Bokun fee to Viator reservations. Viator's own commercial terms still apply. The standalone Bókun Channel Manager is an exception: the pricing page publishes a 0.5% to 1.5% Bokun fee on Viator bookings for that product.

Can I pass Bokun fees on to my guests?+

Yes. Any paid plan supports passing the booking fee on to guests, and Bokun says it includes the fee in the displayed overall price. Check which booking channels your configuration covers before reducing your forecast operator cost.

Does Bokun charge for offline bookings?+

Bokun states that offline bookings carry no Bokun booking fee. Its documentation describes these as bookings you enter yourself, such as walk-ins or email reservations. Collecting payment for them can still involve a separate payment provider's charges.

Are card processing fees included in Bokun pricing?+

Budget for payment processing separately. Bokun connects to payment providers, whose charges depend on the arrangement you use. Ask for domestic and international card rates, currency conversion, refunds and chargebacks before comparing total costs.

Can I cancel Bokun and get booking fees refunded?+

Cancelling your subscription and refunding a guest are different events. The terms specify a renewal notice deadline and circumstances in which booking fees remain payable after cancellation. Have support confirm the rule for your payment setup before treating refunded sales as fee-free.
